If you study the floor of the ocean, you will see that I painted a giant life-sized column laying on its side.  I painted the column to match the REAL column you see in the foreground. I try to personalize murals with their environments as much as possible. Choosing new shades to color your world and represent who you are is FUN! <div data-rss-type="text"> <p> <b> COLORS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  </b> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <p> Colors make a difference in the way we feel!   </p> <p> Choose carefully...but don't stress if you choose a color that you don't love.  It's just paint...and paint can be changed... but a little preplanning can go a long way in getting to the finish line successfully the FIRST time.   </p> <p> <b> WHO YA GONNA CALL? </b> </p> <p> Hiring a professional artist with an excellent reputation and work history will save you a lot of second guessing and a lot of time. Ask friends. Look around you when you are out and ask who painted any murals you see that you like. Get online and GOOGLE! Look at pictures and testimonials!  There are MANY great artists out there who would LOVE to help you with your project. Just be ready to state your budget during your initial consultation so that you can help THEM to help YOU! </p> <p> <b> WHICH COLORS TO CHOOSE... </b> </p> <p> Bright primary colors POP and STIMULATE our senses. Bright colors denote a sense of youth, whimsy and creativity. Subdued colors like beige and grey sit quietly on the wall waiting for artistic adornment.   </p> <p> There is a unique psychology involved in the selection of colors for any environment and scouring design magazines can be very useful but at the end of the day, honoring your own personal preferences makes for a happy final result. </p> <p> Colors can make a room seem larger or smaller, cooler or warmer...lively or calm. And there are a baZILLION color choices! (Thank goodness!) And try to embrace the notion that trial and error CAN be fun and make for some good storytelling!) </p> <p> I have been in many homes with very subdued wall colors acting as a quiet backdrop to hang  fantastically COLORFUL works of art that can provide focal points and infuse the viewer with a surge of "Happy".  It is a symbiotic flow that I personally like a LOT. Sophistication can be very fun! </p> <p> <b> GET TO KNOW YOURSELF! YOU ARE WONDERFUL! </b> </p> <p> The color of the sky is not your limit! Getting to know your own personality and preferences will make choosing your palette more entertaining and turn your environment into an expression of YOU!  </p> <p> Learning about oneself is FUN and ENLIGHTENING! And personally, I think that is what life should be! I was in AWE at her bold, unencumbered COURAGE to just COVER an armoire with bright colors and shapes and confidently deliver the finished product to her customers.  They always squealed with delight!   </span> </b> </div> <div> <b> <span> <br/> </span> </b> </div> <div> <b> <span> I expressed my admiration to this new artist friend of mine and she promptly invited me to paint WITH her!  I was apprehensive.  I didn't want to mess anything up!  Fast forward to TODAY and I am ENTHUSIASTIC to paint furniture! </span> </b> </div> <div> <b>   </b> </div> <div> <b> Painting Old Furniture Just Makes Sense </b> </div> <div> <div> <div> <p> Painting old furniture is like giving it a facelift. It infuses NEW VIBRANT LIFE into a something that may have been under appreciated as the decades go by.  Maybe along the way, scratches and dings left their unsightly marks on an otherwise structurally sound dresser, table or chair. </p> <p> Maybe that piece of furniture is HUGE and HEAVY and has occupied the same perfect spot for decades...and it would be a huge production to MOVE it to another location or find a replacement.  If this is the case, hiring a "Decorative Artist" to paint a new color and/or design to it can make your life easier, more entertaining and it can save you TIME!  And we all know: "Time is money."  </p> <p> Do you really want to spend all the time and effort it would take to find a replacement for something that isn't actually "broken or unusable"?  For MOST of us...I bet the answer is "NO!"  I think most of us would rather be enjoying time with friends and family...or taking care of other business!  There are lots of fish to fry after all! </p> <br/> <b> But...It's SO BIG! </b> </div> <div> <b> <br/> </b> </div> <div> <span> Yes it IS!  Some furniture requires 2 or even 3 strong men to MOVE it!  Move it WHERE? Sell it WHERE? How LONG will it take?? Gahhhhhhh!  It can all be just too much sometimes!  So here's my suggestion. Leave it where it is. Yep.  If it's NOT BROKEN and if it's filled with items that would still need to find another location to be stored...I say: "Leave it where it is and find an artist to come over and paint/revive it RIGHT WHERE IT IS!"   </span> </div> <div> <span> <br/> </span> </div> <div> <span> In many cases, large, heavy  </span> pieces of furniture can be painted without moving it AND without emptying it out! I am speaking from experience! I have done it and I was PROUD and the customers were ELATED!  So many problems SOLVED with freshpaint,  and creativity for a FRACTION of TIME and MONEY! This is a worthy endeavor because... </div> <div> <br/> </div> <div> <span> Sometimes OLDER is BETTER! </span> <br/> </div> <div> <span> <br/> </span> </div> <div> <span>  That's right! (This can be true for people AND furniture!)  </span> </div> <div> <span> Furniture that was made "Back in the day" can often be more solid and structurally sound than "NEW" furniture!  </span> <br/> </div> <div> <span> If your furniture is constructed of solid wood with "dovetail" joints...it's PROBABLY worth KEEPING around! Craftsmanship (or lack of)  in furniture is evident when it ages.   </span> </div> <div> <span> <br/> </span> </div> <div> <span> When high quality craftsmanship is evident in a structure...preserving it is the RIGHT thing to do.  </span> </div> <div> <br/> </div> <div> <span> FUNCTIONAL ART! </span> <br/> </div> <div> <span> <br/> </span> </div> <div> Depending on the artist you choose, and the level of creativity you are comfortable with...your furniture could be turned into ART with a FUNCTION!  </div> <div> <br/> </div> <div> It can become as beautiful as a Michelangelo sculpture!  OR....if you desire an understated "Less is more" theme...it can become "fresh and new" but with a subdued finish...the choice is completely yours! </div> <div> <br/> </div> <div> <span> And Hey...it FITS! </span> </div> <div> When you have a piece of furniture painted in the same location where it will remain...you already know it FITS and it FUNCTIONS!   </div> <div> <br/> </div> <div> This is why: "YES!
